Mark's Photos: Moreton Boxing-Day Tug of War and Games

Pictures of the annual Tug-of war and Games at Moreton in Essex that is held every Boxing Day. The Tug of war has been held in Church Lane, Moreton for more than 50 years between the two pubs of Moreton village. In 2007 and again in 2009, The team from Nags Head Pub won the Tug-of war, but in 2008 The White Hart Inn team won the Tug-of war. A game in the street in Moreton, Essex involving carrying a barrel of beer over an obstacle course, followed by a race to the bridge where the tug of war takes place over the river. Often teams end up sliding into the Cripsey Brook when they are out-pulled by the other team. In 2010 the game was modified to include a chariot race. Again the team from the Nags Head Pub won.
